About Celena Grissam, PA-C
Celena Grissam, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant who is proud to serve patients at Summit Health and Pain in Colorado Springs. She feels strongly that decision-making in medicine should be shared with the patient through open and honest communication and education.
Prior to becoming a physician assistant, Celena began her healthcare career as a surgical technician, where she worked and precepted in several surgical specialties. During her surgical technician career, she also taught CPR/BLS and first aid to adults, children, families, healthcare providers, and instructors through the American Heart Association. She earned a Bachelor of Business and gained experience as both a business owner and an inventory supervisor for multiple departments at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Her volunteer work in hospice services further shaped her appreciation for compassionate care and the dignity of a healthy, well-planned end of life. Wanting to expand the ways she could care for patients, she later pursued pre-physician assistant studies in Colorado Springs before heading to Glendale, Arizona to earn her Master of Medical Science degree in physician assistant studies from Midwestern University. As a physician assistant, she has specialized experience in hormone management and weight loss, with strong clinical interests not only in these specialties but also in primary care and pain management. Her business background taught her the importance of reducing costs without compromising patient safety or quality, while in healthcare, she holds herself to a standard of continual learning so she can better care for and educate her patients.
Celena is known for her empathetic approach and her ability to connect with patients. She is adaptable in both clinical and procedural environments. Patients frequently report feeling genuinely cared for, comfortable discussing sensitive topics, and appreciative of medical guidance they can understand and confidently apply. Celena believes good medicine begins with listening, understanding what matters to the patient, and working together toward a plan that respects their health, values, and life. Her primary goal in medicine is to help patients feel their best, improve their long-term health, and reduce the need for unnecessary surgery and preventable hospitalization.
In her personal life, Celena and her husband, a retired 22-year Air Force veteran, enjoy traveling, serving in their church, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying the great Colorado outdoors.
